2022-2024

The 2022 redesign saw the Grand Cherokee become slightly larger than its predecessor, retaining core powertrains like the 3.6-liter V6 and 5.7-liter V8, and introducing the new 4xe plug-in hybrid version. The 4xe combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with an electric drive, offering 25 miles of electric-only range. The Uconnect 5 infotainment system, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, takes center stage in this generation. Standard safety features include AEB with pedestrian and cyclist detection, BSW, RCTW, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Previous Generation

2011-2021

The 2011 redesign transformed the Grand Cherokee into a more upscale vehicle, featuring a fully independent suspension, modern cabin electronics, and an improved ride. The refined 3.6-liter V6 and the 5.7-liter V8 provided ample power, with the latter capable of towing 7,400 pounds. The Uconnect infotainment system was among the best in the industry. Standard safety equipment included antilock brakes, traction control, and stability control, with additional driver aids available as options.

2005-2010

The third-generation Grand Cherokee, launched as a 2005 model, was larger than its predecessor and brought updated looks, a restyled cabin, and a choice of three engines and three 4WD systems. This generation saw improvements to the suspension and 4WD systems, enhancing off-road capabilities and on-road comfort. 2006 introduced the high-performance SRT8 version, and in 2007, a 3.0-liter diesel V6 and a flex-fuel V8 were added to the powertrain options.

1999-2004

Entering its second generation at the turn of the millennium, the Grand Cherokee underwent a complete redesign. The base engine, a six-cylinder, was retained but slightly more powerful, while a new 235-hp, 4.7-liter V8 was introduced. This generation combined a sleeker exterior with the rugged capabilities Jeep is known for, keeping it competitive in the growing SUV market.
